about

"Labyrinth" is based on Passacaglia in D minor by Christian Friedrich Witt (1838-1882), formerly attributed to J.S. Bach, BWH Anh. 182. A passacaglia is a musical form of continuous variation written in 3/4 time. This one was written for harpsichord, but I wanted to add a lot of intensity with strings, organ, electric guitar, and drums. I really wanted this to represent the confusion and helplessness that we all inevitably feel at some point in our lives. For me, it's depression and anxiety, which has been a lifelong struggle. I hope people can connect with this song in some way. It's a little different and I kind of just did my own thing and used my own pure, creative expression. No rules, no limits. It may be fun for you to listen to this original version of the piece. It starts out a little slower and gradually builds in intensity and speed. I think I gave the instrumentalists a challenge on this one, but they did an amazing job. The electric guitar is played by Michael Dowdle, violin by Aaron Ashton, and cello by Nicole Pinnell.

lyrics

The walls of time
The shadows of my mind
There's no place to hide
From the demons inside
A swirling maze
I am afraid
I'm crumbling from within
Will this be the end?

My fingers turn cold
I stumble down this twisted road
The future unclear
It's the labyrinth I fear

Find me
Save me
I can't stay
Lift me
Wake me
Light my way

Heal me
Cure me
Set me free
