"Aria (Cantilena)" is from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, written by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959). The original version of this features the cellos playing pizzicato, and it moves at pretty quick pace. I decided to slow it down a bit by giving the cello a deep and melodic presence and adding in some electronic elements. My track features Nicole Pinnell on the cello and she did a wonderful job. This is a vocalise, which means the entire song is sung on a vowel with no lyrics. I first heard this on Sissel's album Into Paradise and thought it had such a lovely melody.
